Let’s start by agreeing that writing “About Me” pages is always awkward.

But now that we got that out of the way… my name is Rachel Benzine! I am twenty-eight years old, and I live in the suburbs of Minnesota’s Twin Cities. I firmly believe the best part of living in Minnesota is the Minnesota State Fair. Give me a footlong hot dog and an all-you-can-drink cup of farm fresh milk, and surround me with one hundred and twenty thousand other Minnesotans, and I’m a happy camper.
I’ve been married since 2015 to Chase, whom I love dearly. We purchased our a new house this fall, and are successfully keeping plants alive in our back yard (#adulting). This is us:
I love knitting, and I am currently working on my second throw blanket. I drink an absurd amount of tea. My favorite color is yellow, and my favorite flowers are daisies. I have been teaching Sunday School lessons to preschoolers in my church since 2015, and I’m most comfortable interacting with people under the age of six.
When I was a kid, my dream was to be a librarian. I remember putting books back on the shelves at my local public library as an elementary schooler, and I even rode on the Chanhassen Public Library float in one year’s Fourth of July parade. As so often happens, I forgot about my dream job as I grew older, and majored in psychology for my undergraduate degree. After bouncing around the nonprofit world for a few years after graduating with my Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, I was trying to decide what career I wanted while simultaneously applying to put books back on the shelves at the new library I lived by. One thing led to another, and I graduated with my Master of Library and Information Science Degree from San Jose State University in December 2018. I’ve been working as a Collection Development Librarian since early 2019. Moral of the story: dreams come true, by the grace of God.
